That's right. I've always wanted to shop at a place that sells overpriced tat, that breaks as soon as you get it home.

I just hate those days when you have a bit of lazing around planned and the Mrs mutters those dreaded words "lets go to IKEA".

You then know that you will have to go through a shop full of screaming kids, then have to contort yourself in the car because of the size of the stuff and then spend an afternoon swearing at the instructions.

Ikea in Perth is very expensive; especially for what you get.

There are plenty of really nice shops in places like Subiaco where you can find interesting furniture. Harvey Norman is much better quality than Ikea. Freedom is similar, but still expensive. Otherwise there are several 'designer' shops just down the road from Ikea.

When you've got kids, it's the best place to go on a Friday night!

It's cheaper than Brewsters/McCrappy's/Wacky's, you can get a bottle in the cafe to accompany your meatballs(!), feed the kids extremely cheaply, they can play on all the furniture and you get to spend the money you used to spend in the pub on 'stuff' that you think you like (in a quirky kind of way) but definitely don't need.

IKEA stinks!

Even Jules agrees now. Had a very bad experience with their customer service, we've agreed never to return. Go to Freedom instead - you pay a bit more but get much better quality IMO.

As I mentioned previously...
http://britishexpats.com/forum/showt...hreadid=216327
Waited all day for an AM delivery that arrived at 7pm.
Wardrobe panels severly warped couldn't begin to put it together.
Wasted hours (yes hours) on the phone arranging a collection, having to chase all the time.
Wrote a letter of complaint but heard nothing back.
Eventually got a refund in the post with a blank complement slip
As you can tell I'm still seething from the experience.
If I ever get my hands on that rich bstrd from Ikea, well I'll wring his bloody neck:mad:
Enough, stop before my blood boils again.

Typical. Just goes to show what a cheap skate him and his company are. If I had his money I would have my own plane
Well he's $700 worse off now we got our refund. He might not be able to afford his next flight now:D

wasnt there something about ikea using third world labour?

Holland shops have lots of wooden ikea - like stuff......very stylish furniture there. My parents used to live in the south near Brede and people would leave their loungeroom curtains open so you could see into their houses. I think everyone should boycott Ikea totally and start investing in some nice 80's style plastic sofas and beige carpets. And floral cushions too. :D

Had a bad experience with the Ikea in Brisbane.... they delivered our stuff to the wrong address, 2 weeks earlier than agreed, left it on the front lawn as no-one was home (2x beds and 1 x settee) luckily they left our number on the delivery slip so the householder rang to let us know.... Ikea refused to collect the stuff back then told us it was out of stock for our arranged delivery date! Customer service person told me that she didnt feel like being helpful when I rang to sort it out (irate but still polite!!!) Beware.......

I've never darkened the doors of IKEA. I count this as a good thing.

ALthough, Mr B, having heard the recent report that 1 in 10 people make love on an IKEA bed (or whatever the figure was, wasn't listening at the time) suddenly suggested that we should go to IKEA to buy our new bed...
