Dunno. I know it's just like the UK lottery. I remember one year I was backpacking in Oz and a UK backpacker won the jackpot! Lucky s*d.

We own a newsagency/lotto outlet on the Gold Coast. The Australian lotto is similar to UK but there are differences. The games are nationwide but each state has its own operator - in Queensland its Golden Casket, NSW has Tattersalls etc. A lotto ticket or scratchie bought in one state cannot be checked or cashed in another state.
The main game is Saturday Gold Lotto - 6 numbers plus 2 supplementary are drawn. The jackpot is $4 Million on a normal Saturday. There are 6 'Superdraws' a year where the jackpot is $22 Million and one 'Megadraw' on the last Saturday of the year with a jackpot of $33 Million. Standard 'quickpicks' (luckydips) cost between $6.60 & $13.20 then there are systems which involve a much bigger investment (up to $20,000.00 for a system 20). We also organise syndicates in our store offering a share in an expensive system - these are very popular especially on he big draws.
Tuesday is Oz lotto which is more expensive and harder to win but very popular because if there is a winner the chances of sharing it are less.
Thursday is Powerball there again it usually jackpots (Rollover) and the prize sometimes gets to $25 Million.

Nice one. Very informative.
Would like to still cling to that hope and have the ' what-if ' conversations !

You are defiantly coming to the right place then! Golden Casket claims that 80% of Queensland residents regularly play lotto.
Scratchies are also very popular with most customers in our shop spending any change they receive from their transaction on a card or two.
