Are there any Voice and data installers out there???
Hi,
I'm trying to find out what kind of salary i can expect installing voice and data networks in Perth area. It involves Cat5e, Cat6, Telephony and Fibre. Currently i am a project manager for such installations but i'm prepared to do either the PM role or as an installation engineer. It seems that job vacancies do not seem to be advertised with a salary. Can anyone please help???
Thanks

Can you be a bit more precise about your experience? Have you been working as a PM physically putting the cabling in the ground/on poles or do you work on Cisco/Nortel etc? If the latter then the Hays Salary Survey should help, google for that.

Re: Are there any Voice and data installers out there???
I spent nearly 12 years installing voice and data networks in offices, school etc. Putting in fibre and voice to link buildings or cabinets together. Been a PM for a year now actually quoting, organising materials, scheduling engineers and the general running of a job. Varying in price from small to large jobs.
I prefer being an engineer but if the salary is a lot less i'd stay as a PM.
Cheers
