OUr friend is one and it's a bit dodgy just now he was saying. More contract stuff, not uncommon here, but not all that steady.

Sorry - I can't help myself - but your grammar has become Australian ie the incorrect usage of is with plural - you should say "ARE there any aircraft engineers" OR "IS there AN aircraft engineer?"

Good luck in your quest anyway!!!

H there, an AME here majoring in military aircraft. I have been here, QLD for 3 months and still searching. Not much adverts compared to last year. If you have commercial experience, changes are high but contract work. It seems true that you have to find all the maintenance companies in QLD, call them 1 by 1 to see if there's any vacancy. Currently trying my luck as well... Keeping my fingers crossed with this crisis... All the best for your job search...

Might be a good idea to post this question on www.pprune.org. You might be able to get info from other aircraft engineers that may not necessarily post on BE, as it is a forum for pilots and anyone involved in the aviation industry.

Further to "the Bloke" advice on posting on pprune I would concur.
Post on "engineers and technicians" and back it up with a post on "Dunnunda and Godzone" forums targetting oz. They tend to be quite helpful.

For most work on military bases you will need security clearance.....and that is not easy to get if you are not a citizen.

Yup Claire, Rich needs to be a citizen to work on military base. I am also on PR visa. Does your hubby have a trade cert? Chances of getting a job with trade cert is higher...
