And then we both had jobs.
Aye, I have also now started a full time, permenant position. It's based at the University of Sydney, basically looking after HR, and specifically recruitment, within the School of Economics and Political Science. A complete career change for me and a totally new environment (universities not being at all like pharmaceutical companies, which is what I dealt with in my last role). Got the job offered yesterday and started today (bit bloody short notice to my mind! Especially bearing in mind that the closing date for the job was 31 March but that they only decided who to appoint on Tuesday - hey ho). So I found out yesterday, just before all our stuff turned up - it's been a rather (happy) eventful 24 hours! Like Mr GG, this role pays me more than I was earning in the UK (base - super is on top) so, financially speaking, we're quids in by moving to Sydney. A completely unexpected (but welcome!!!) turn of events. Best go and pretend to read the HR manual for a bit.

Well done, yes, Universities do take their time don't they! I'm applying to Universities as well so any inside knowledge gratefully received.

Well done GG would you concur that living centrally, I notice that you live in the inner west of Sydney, helped in having a lot more choice in jobs from a central location ? Resulting in having a job that actually pays more ?
Or are you just a star

Congratulations on the new job, GG. Both you and Mr GG have got yourselves sorted out jobwise with admirable (if rather scary) speed!
Been following your postings with interest as we are also Sydney bound later this year. I work in a similar sounding role within HR , also specialising in resourcing/recruitment, so it's interesting to hear that there are likely to be jobs available over there. Damn! I've been subtly preparing the Other Half for the fact that I'm unlikely to find work when we get to Sydney!
Anyway, huge congrats on the job and hope it goes really well for you.
Rgds,
Nicky
