TFN number

I know this sounds silly but just wondered about TFN number. We were in Perth and had our TFN numbers there now we are returning to Brisbane do we stil have the same TFN number or do we have to reapply? Just wondered as the states are all different. Thanks

Re: TFN number

A TFN is not just for Christmas, it's for life!

You are supposed to keep the same one forever.

Same number - doesn't matter what State, or how long you are away :)

Hi Kath

Dont know if you remember me but we returned from perth 3 years ago now - i remember you coming back to uk and feeling unsettled - so you are making the move back again but to brisbane! We are thinking of doing exactly the same thing, although it will be next year now as i am expecting again:) So have you been to Brisbane before? My problem is i havent been before and so am unsure wether i will like it there or not, feel like i should give it a try though. I havent been on here for such a long time so sorry i havent followed your story, but would love to hear how you come about deciding to head to brissie:)

After a period of time the number becomes dormant. I don't know what is but I know it happens and you then have to apply for the number to come back to life again and thus indicate you are back in the country. Thus the number stays the same but it can be 3-4 weeks for the number to be listed again as working.
