Hi all
Is it possible to apply for a tax file number from the uk, so you know it will be ready when you land?
Does it depend on having a job already lined up?

No, the system will know if you have validated your visa or not, and will not let you register until you have entered Australia.

You need to enter your date of first arrival and an Australian address to have the number sent to.

If it's any consulation - they come through really quickly and are not job dependant and if you happen to get work fast and start quickly you don't have to have TFN before you start, you can do a declaration at any point although best to do as soon as you can!
