Default Termico + warranty ??

Hi All

Been in new house a year, had letter from Termico asking if wish to extend warranty (200+bucks !!) .I think the builder said we should do it ? should we ?
We are in a suburban estate , not out in the sticks..
Is it needed ? or is it easy money for them ? hmm

Cheers

Greg

Look in your power meter box it will give you the implied warranty for Termico
Covered areas 10yrs (under slab -patio paving etc )
non covered 5yrs .

Be aware that a termite warranty only covers the re application of the barrier not substantial damage to the house.
For warranty purposes inspections are required ( $$ )

yeah but it once was the sticks , termites mainly live on grass roots and theres heaps in the suburbs.

I wrote it that way on purpose as :

you well may be in a very bad termite area
your house construction makes a big difference

other points are - any new garden beds or paving after application can void the warranty - your meant to get them out to reapply the barrier if any changes are done (this only applies within 1 metre of existing walls or building a patio )

My own opinion is to keep a sharp eye on the garden beds ( first point of entry usually ) and have the barrier reapplied after 10 years in covered areas.

The point I am making is the extended warranty requires inspections by the installer (which I presume cost ) just by adhering to the time frame of the original warranty will give you a good guide when it it needs to be reapplied.
