Default Temp Visa Holders Education fee - NSW

As a (potential) Temporary (457IE) visa holder it appears I will have to pay some AUD 5500 per annum for my son to attend state school in NSW. Is this the case in other Australian States/Territories - and if so, how much are the fees?

Any info will be most welcome

Thanks

Kev

No in VIC we don't have to pay anything.

I must admit I was astounded by the NSW payments when I researched, but here in VIC there is no requirement for payment.

Hi!

Yep, here In melbourne, my little ones are educated free on a 457, although you have to pay whateveryone calls "school fees" which are what we would call annual parent contributions ( about $100 per child...but each school can vary the cost...and if you have 4 kids..it can add up to a lovely bill every february!!)

I know that In NSW the fees have been abolished for nurses with kids...as nurses were being put off from going because of the cost.

I dont know if that applies for you..

When did the fee go up to 5500, that is a big leap in a year I paid 4500 per child last year, hoping to be validated for PR before the bill falls due this year!

Cheers

It depends on age - as my son will be a 'senior' (year 11) the fee is AUD 5500. The AUD 4500 fee is for under 16 year olds.

Lets hope there is no further 'sting in the tail' and they decide to leave it at current levels.
