Default Temp spouse visa & permanent job

Is it very difficult to find a permanent job on a temp spouse visa?

This is not considering any specific occupation, the current job market, the candidate's qualifications or if the employer specifically stipulates that only Aus citizens or PR can apply (for example, fed govt agencies) ... but solely based on the visa itself.

Can employers choose to accept a 457 visa candidate but not a temp spouse candidate (both of whom are on temporary residence visas)?

Just wondering if anybody has any knowledge on this or what your experiences have been...

Thanks

The trick that I found worked when going for jobs on a temp spouse visa was to ensure that I made it clear a temp spouse visa becomes permanent after 2 years. Once they know you are married to an Aussie and looking to make a life here, they are often more inclined to hire you.
A 457 costs the employers more in hassle as they have to do all the sponsoirship stuff, so a temp spouse visa holder might have a good advantage

Hi,

You have just as much right to work in Australia as anybody. But ultimately the decision is up to the employer.

I referenced my visa on my CV as "De-Facto Spouse (Sub Class 309). Visa granted xx/xx/xxxx Valid until grant of PR". When you're talking to prospective employers, if they ask about your visa, tell them that you have a "Provisional visa", don't mention the word temporary, as this can have negative connotations to an employer (e.g. sponsorship, employee leaving after x months).

I didn't have a problem getting a job on a temp spouse visa, but I work in a fairly sought after field, particularly here in Adelaide.

Cheers

Steve

There may be a way to get a permanent spouse visa before the 2 year time, or possibly through employer sponsorship.
