Default Telstra Relocations

Moving home next week and have applied to relocate our Telstra phone line. We're moving to an 'established house'.

Anybody know whether we're likely to be able to keep our current phone number? Or will they issue us with a new one.

Need to find out asap so I can also get t'internet connection switched as well (iinet)

Cheers

iinet will not even consider moving your broadband until the phone line is up and running even if you have the number beforehand. If you are under the same exchange then you should be able to keep the same number. If you are moving exchanges you need to find out if that exchange has any spare ADSL capacity for you to switch too, your speed may suffer if the exchange is full.

Don't have to move far to move exchanges though - I don't know how far you are moving, but as close as Clayfield to Aspley we had to change numbers.

We'll be in the same ADSL2+ enabled exchange according to this:

http://bc.whirlpool.net.au/

..based on entering our current phone number and then the current phone number of the occupier of the house we're moving to.

Yep. That's the one

Although they reckon the $60 is what the ISP gets charged by Telstra, so they just pass this on to the consumer

Peanuts though when you think how much I'm able to save by working from home as opposed to having to commute every day. The wonders of VPN's eh?!

If your ISP is told that ADSL is not available on the new line then PM me - Telstra have a long running scam going to force you to use Bigpond, but it can be stopped.
