Over here they are heavily into apprenticeships so when you did your forms you should have listed what you learnt in the first 4 or 5 years. From the silly health and saferty you learnt to the interesting bits. They like to see you have learnt over a period of time. We did it in hubby's, listed how he learnt to put a ladder up etc and put on the form training was off the top of my head 3 years with continual training on job, they liked it so I assume its what they wanted. Our agent told us never just fill in the spaces on the form always send off sheets of info, as much detail as possible, maybe this is where you went wrong. Hope that helps Jenny |
Re: Telecom TRA REFUSED any help please
i dont know if i can help but i went back 17 years with mine, even to when i was a hod carrier.i went through every boring detail ,even though i have no formal qualifications .
i explained ,which happens to be the truth that i tried to take myself but i was just to tired going to work and then going home and working on my house. i mapped out all my work experience from being a hoddy to employing people. you must go into massive detail even if it sounds to obvious. its someone reading your work history the other side of the world that has to build up a mental picture of you.. i gave them 17 references off employers and clients.. if you need any help let me know and i will put you on to someone who will help you,but he charges £500,its worth every penny though if it gets you in ast |
Re: Telecom TRA REFUSED any help please
People often underestimate the amount of information TRA actually require -they want every bit of detail about your job. You have to imagine you are explaining in minute detail to someone who doesn't know what you do - in a way that when you've finished explaining it they know exactly what you do and how you do it.
Good luck :) |

Re: Telecom TRA REFUSED any help please
My wife applied as a cook and she had to list all her training ie how she was taught to use a potato peeler and a hand whisk things which most of us take for granted but the TRA really do need as much info no matter how small the detail and trivial you might think it seems
My advice try again but send everything. do you have p60's or wage slips to verify the early years? that allways seems to help. Andy  |
Re: Telecom TRA REFUSED any help please
My TRA was about 4 inches thick and it was just like writing an account of my working life over the last 17 years. But that alone is not sufficient, you have to evidence every statement you make. The detail needed is very in depth. It took me about 4 months just to gather it. I did my own TRA but would recommend John Nye from AMSAS if I was using someone. If you want his details PM me.

Re: Telecom TRA REFUSED any help please
Mate,
I am no expert but I have done my own tra and now have the visa. The tra is without doubt (imo)the hardest part,i'm an engineer and timeserved etc etc. I sent 160+ pages of info on my job,you neeed to explain your job as if you were going to show somebody who has no idea what you are talking about,it's a long tedoius process but believe me it's worth it. I took nearly 3 months to gather all the paperwork etc,if you have a log book from apprentice days, copy it and get it certified etc send everything. There's at least 1 reply to this thread who i gave the same advise to and they passed,it's a ball ache and i'm sure at this time you feel a bit down. Pick yourself up,gather your thoughts and start again with a fresh start. You can do it,the guys on here will offer advise all the way through, any questions just ask, follow your dream and please do not give up. I wish you and yours the best of luck and i'm sure there are a at least 100 more regular posters on here wishing you all the best. |

Any pictures, photos, diagrams or documents etc etc. Just think of the TRA as a bunch of numpties who dnt even know how to use a phone !!!!  It is hard mate i wnt say its easy, as RM said gather your thoughts and ask on here. there are some ppl who have experienced the same feeling, you are not alone in this situation. |
Re: Telecom TRA REFUSED any help please
On the flip side, I didn't send much at all. I was told they are so used to Uk qualifications that as long as you have the right (trade) papers you will be fine.
And I was:) |

Re: Telecom TRA REFUSED any help please
I sent about a page on each job I have had, and filled the spaces in the booklet.

Someone on here once said it was like describing how to make a cup of tea. Instead of saying get cup, put teabag in, etc etc. You go into massive detail. ie. Fill kettle with required amount of water, turn kettle on, get cup from cupboard, put teabag into cup etc etc. If it wasn't for the information that I got from here we wouldn't have passed our TRA. I also believe that this is the hardest part of the visa process. If you go to the immigration forum and do a search for skills assessment you'll find a wealth of information there. For information we didn't use an agent and we got our visas in October last year, which was 7 months from sending the visa app off. Good luck Janine |
