Teens in Oz

I'm NOT a teen ...lol, but I just feel I wanted to share.

My daughter in the UK was (I think! ... ) a 'typical' teen. 15 years old, doing well at school, a friendly girl with many friends, BUT!! ... she'd get home ... have dinner ... and then it was to her room for 'good ole' MSN!!

Bill Gates comfortable friend! ... The MSN Messenger!!

Ok, I didn't have issues with this, and she DID get on with her schooling and all the rest! ... but to be honest a day off from school would probably end up a 'day on MSN' ... teen parents (I hope!) will understand where I'm coming from here.

Anyway, we've been here 11 months now, and I just wanted to show you what she was doing the other day (on her day off from school)

A day on MSN ?!?!?

NO! ...

A day at the 'rope swing' where they all meet up, spend the day jumping into the lake, and basically having a bloody good time! ... living the good ole 'outdoor life!'

That's it! ... personally I think the pic say's it all!

http://usera.imagecave.com/piccies/rope_swing.jpg

BOTH my teens (16 & 14) absolutely LOVE it here!

The other LOVES his skateboarding and there's decent parks all over the place here, and ......

Well, I just wanted to say my kids have settled REAL good and I'm bloody chuffed about it! ... :)

Ok, I appreciate this won't be the case for all, but basically I'm drunk and wanted to throw out a good ole 'positive post' really ... :o

Good night ...

I'm amazed at the changed in my lad (14). In the UK I could never get him off his PC, now he's wanting to go out with various friends. It's very strange :D

This is great to know. I have two girls 12 & 9 the 12 yr old spends as much time as i let her on MSN so the thought of her spending her days outdoors (she does love her sport) would be great.
What a fab pic I want to do it.

Fab post Paul. My kids have never been so get up and go either. They're loving it here.
Swimming after school in the park, meeting up with their friends... whilst the mums have a nice chat too.
It's a bit different to the life I lived in the UK... and we were outdoors people there, but this is so much nicer.

My daughter is 15 and my god it has been hell since we came here....but....things are changing. She does go on MSN still, but at last she has met new friends in the area we live in and goes out every night and all weekend with them. Thank the lord!!!

Just got 2 boys to sort out now:huh:

Re: Teens in Oz

Yeah the outdoor life is REAL here and they all seem to play it. Don't get me wrong they both still do the MSN bit, but to a far lower degree now.

I think in the 11 months we're been here there's probably been less than 5 weekends where they both haven't either stayed over at a friends, or had a friend (or a few sometimes) stay here.

in the UK there was NEVER a time we'd have the whole weekend to ourselves, but it's almost getting common these days ...

NOT complaining of course!
