Default Teenagers

We have got a sixteen year old son who is adament that he does not want to return to oz. We came back to the UK two years ago and have 15 months left on our PR visa's and are contemplating a return later this year. Is there anyone who is or has been in this situation?

I am leaving my 19 year old daughter behind, very difficult but she is adamant she doesn't want to leave all her friends etc behind. If you put teenagers in the search box i'm sure you'll find lots of advice as this topic has been covered before
Best of luck with it

Our 16 year old son cant wait to go...........mind you he has had a bit of a sh.t time here with schooling and bullying..........not sure what he is hoping for, but we have alwaus been very honest and upfront about going to Perth and have explained that there will be times when he will feel very homesick. Dont want to put him off, but dont want to make him think that it is paradise.
Does that make sense?

Hi Sula
We have two teenage sons, one 17 and one 15 who are also adament that they do not want to go!

If we do manage to get our visas, after all the not knowing, frustration and waiting, there is no way we are going to let them stop us of having this experience, as it will be our last chance of doing so.

They will come with us and give it a chance, if they dont like it, will be up to them to sort something else out, but by then they would be old enough to do it on their own. So much changes in a couple of years when they are this age, jobs, relationships could take them anywhere in the world!

We are of course hoping that once we are there they will love it, as most people I have spoken to that have visited or are now living there do!

Ask your son what he would consider a reasonable compromise, he is also growing up and could decide on something completely different in a couple of years time after your PR runs out!!

You are in a far better position than a lot of other people who post here who are still waiting for a PR or Temp. visa - so make the most of it - please - dont regret later after it will be too late for you!

Good luck.

Cheers
Gill

We are still waiting for our visa all was sent at least 5 weeks ago so fingers crossed. We have to validate our visa by the end of july . Our son of fifteen is still saying he is not going but he does not really have a choice as he is still a minor and we have said to him we will rent our house so if that is not what we all want over on oz then we can return. We still get the same response so we can only pray that he comes round.
