Teaching in demand ? - which Australain STATES ?
Hello,
I'm hoping for a litte help in trying to find out where in Australia
it is easiest to secure teaching positinns. (City and surrounding suburbs to 1 hour drive).
It seems that securing work is much more difficult than in the U.K.
Can someone please list the states and the related demand for teachers /
ease of securing a position.
I'm a primary school teacher and my partner is a Secondary Maths teacher.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

To my knowledge there is demand for teachers so long as you are willing to co operate with the individual staes need to send you out to do country service in remote schools..
I have personally chosen Victoria and will be arriving in August
You need to get registered with the state you will choose
Victoria follow a Uk style recruitment process whereby you can apply for jobs individually with interview etc
Mosty other states have a central recruitment process and they will farm you out to wherever there is a need
I would be keen to hear from ant teachers who are already in Australia as to the job situation too...
best of luck

Re: Teaching in demand ? - which Australain STATES ?
i had a friends who trained as a teacher in UK then emigrated to aus with hubby to be (an aussie)....
she was in central sydney and couldn't get a job anywhere (this was about 2 years ago).... ended up going into recruitment instead.
a few teachers in the area told her that if she was prepared to go to the outter burbs or regional areas she would have been snapped up pretty quickly!
sorry can't be of more help

I came out as a teacher of English - but am now in IT recruitment.
Living in ACT - it is difficult to get permanent work here. Supply work is well paid but not in high demand as in the UK.
PM me if you want more info
