teaching curriculums in new south wales
I am moving over to Sydney later this year on a working holiday visa and hope to do supply teaching. I will be working with children between the ages 3 and 8. I understand that children do not start school there until they are 6 years old - can anyone please tell me what the name of the curriculum for children in primary school and is there a curriculum for pre-school children? I wanted to start researching some of contents of what I wil be teaching.
Thanks

Re: teaching curriculums in new south wales
Most children in NSW are between the ages of 4.5 and 5.5 when they start school - it's dependent on when their birthdays are. Some kids are held back (by their parents) to avoid being the youngest in the year but it's not the norm to start school at 6.
I'm not a teacher but you could check out the NSW Board of Studies as a starting point for curriculum details. http://www.boardofstudies.nsw.edu.au/contacts/

It is compulsory for all children to be at school by age 6 but most children start kindergarten before they turn 5. Children must turn 5 before the end of July to enter into kindergarten.
