Default Tax Return (UK) do I still have to do one?

We've still got our flat in London as it was such a bad time to sell when we moved here recently. I thought that we would be taxed here (Oz) on our worldwide income at the end of the financial year, including being taxed on the income we get from our rent.

But my Dad just told me I'd had a letter from HMRC saying I will have to do a tax return in the UK. Is that right? I thought I didn't have to do anything in the UK?

But I'm not very good at all this.....

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Unfortunately you will have to complete a UK tax return.

But ensure that any tax paid in the UK, is advised to the Australian Tax Office, so that you do not get 'double' taxed.
