Default Tax rebate for permanent migrants

Hi all.
I recently moved to Melbourne in May. I might be receiving a job offer soon. However, I did hear about a first year tax waiver for new permanent migrants making a move but thats applicable only for their first financial year when they have a taxable income. So ideally i should commence my job from 1st July so that i can take that benefit until June 2014.

Unfortunately I could not locate any such provision on the ATO website. Is anyone aware of any first year tax break for new migrants on a PR visa?

regards, anuj

It says the tax free threshold will be adjusted the first year you are an Australian resident for tax purposes.

Every resident for tax purposes is allowed to earn a certain amount without paying tax. Once you earn above that amount, then you need to pay tax at the correct rate. If you arrive during a tax year, then you get most of that allowance, but not all of it as the calculation shows.
