Hiya all,

Does anyone know how we go about finding out whether my hubby is due a tax rebate when we go?

Hi Mel,

He needs to fill in a form P85.If you look on the Inland Revenue site it gives you the info and you can download the form.

Almost everyone should get a tax rebate. The reason is that each month you pay tax as if you are going to keep earning thats ame amount all year. Effectively you then pay at higher tax rates than you should if you stop earning during that year.

go to your local inland revenue office and fill in a P85 and also take P45

I think I got my rebate in about 2 weeks, though that was 4 years ago

Grrr. Mine's taking ages. And I was hoping to pay off the rest of my student loan with it!

Thanks very much for all the replies. I will let you know how we get on.

As for me, i only work a coupla hours a week, so don't pay tax, so i won't be getting a tax rebate

Never mind, my hubby pays loads in tax, so maybe he will let me share his rebate! (I could do with a new cozzie!)
