Tax on money transferred to Oz??
Hi,
We have been conflicting advice, we are going out on temp 457 visa, and have been told that as it's only temp, we will get taxed on money we take in.
If this is true, then the money we get from the house sale in UK will have to stay in UK, thus making it impossible to buy new home in Oz.
But hvae heard on BE loads of people are buying on 457's (once FIRB approve), but no one mention tax????
Any help, guys???

you shouldn't be taxed on money from the sale of your principal private residence if transferred to oz soon after the sale.

Thanks, had a feeling it was this, but not 100% sure. have heard of lot's buying on a 457, and surely they would have had a deposit, and no one has mentioned tax. This however doesn't mean it should not be paid, maybe they have just fallen lucky?????

(it's not income).
There may be a capital gains tax issue from sales of assets. Different issue.
