Tax help
I've just gone to H&R Block to help with my tax return as it's a bit tricky for me.
The situation is that I work part-time for my old company in the UK. My wages there are taxed in the UK and paid into my UK bank account. However, the person at H&R Block informed me that I wasn't being taxed enough, saying I was only paying around 10% and I now owe the Australian government over $4500! However with the NI contributions included it's around 17%.
I've had a look through my paperwork and realise that the H&R person hasn't included NI contributions as part of the tax I've paid in the UK, as it's kind of hidden away on the P60.
My question is, does anyone know if NI contributions count as deductable tax in a situation like this?
Any help appreciated folks.

Re: Tax help
I won't say I am 100% sure on this, but...
NI won't be classed as tax. Same as the Medicare levy here isn't classed as Tax.
