tax file number
Hi folks,
just wondering the best way to apply for a tax file number. I will be moving to perth and was wanting to know if I can apply from the uk and timescales etc. Also opening a bank account, can this be done from uk. any info would be appreciated

You can only apply for a TFN once you get here. You can open up bank accounts online, we did with NAB, but I don't think there was any particular advantage in doing it before we arrived.

It's possible to open accounts with some Australian banks in London. We opened Westpac accounts and because we had completed security, had cards sent to UK address and were able to use the account to make payments before we arrived in Adelaide
