hi everyone

im moving to brisbane hopefully on 28th may i have a job but my employer is asking for a tfn but when iv apply for one on the govement website they said it better to apply when i get over there just wondering if anyone has had the same problem or im i doing something???

You can't get one until you arrive here. You can apply online as soon as your visa is validated and you should then get one through within a couple of weeks.

It isn't just better to apply when you get here, it is only possible to apply once you get here. Your employer may not know this, just tell them you will provide it when you can, they can get the rest of your paperwork done without it.

Not sure why your employer needs a TFN before you start work ... say to the employer you'll complete a TFN Declaration once you have arrived:

Note that you can tick a box on the Declaration saying you have applied for a TFN.
