tax file number
anyone applied for tax file number and got it before entering australia???

No, when you apply online it states you must be in Australia and they will check.
You also need an australian address for it to be sent too.

Would it be possible to get the TFN sent to an hotel whilst there on holiday or does it have to be a permanent residency?

I think it has to be a residential address. It can also take 4 - 6 weeks to receive it.

Hello,
You can get a taxfile number online in WA. Thats what we did.
Also, if you have a residential address, I suppose you could apply 7-10 days before you arrive. Takes several weeks to be issued, so you would be in Oz before it was at your home. But you do need address and visa details.
