Tax File Number
Hi All,
Does anyone know if it is possible to get a tax file number for Oz, before you have moved there? From the ATO site you seem to be able to live outside Australia and apply for a TFN online, but then it says you can't do this if you are migrating to Australia - you should use another online form. This form then says you have to be in Australia! Can anyone clarify? The website is www.ato.gov.au, and then I searched under Tax File Number.

Think you have to be here Stella as if I remember correctly you need an Aus residential address......rental is fine.

If my memory serves me correct the system asks for your passport number [which in turn will have your visa validted in the system].
