how did you manage that size of mortgage in Hootersville-did you buy the whole town :)

yes but I didn't say how much the mortgage was ;)

The W.A. one wasn't neccessarily huge as we bought before the big resources boom!! and then went and re-mortgaged a few times

e.g you have a job that pays $50,000 - you get paid $50,000 and your employer also pays your fund $4,500.

hope this helps.

thanks for this.....i guess i should get the employers to let me know whether the super is definitely in addition when we make enquiries from now on....:D

it's just very worrying that none of the people we saw in November would commit to any job offers without us already living on the Island....
although they did say to Andy that they would most definitely have work for him so i guess thats something....
i think i'm worrying more about money than he is - but i have always worked - and seeing as i'm planning on having a little break when we 1st arrive from working - i guess partly the fear thing is losing my financial independence! We're just not used to being a one-wage family i guess so we'll have to compromise and get used to not having certain things that we now take for granted...

I do hope so! Andy is very respected in his trade and is very well known amongst people in the industry around the Essex/London area's.... if they dont know him - they either know of his brother or of his Dad when his Dad was alive.... He quite often takes calls all the time where people are looking for metal workers - but normally has to refuse as he's already sub-contracted to someone....only yesterday the same thing happened - only thing is that normally all the people pay the same daily rate unless he's on price for a certain job so there's no need to keep chopping and changing.... Saying that though he has been known to come home from one job and start with another company the next morning - but that's how it works in his game - very rarely do the companies expect notice of any kind...and he never leaves on bad terms.... fingerscrossed once he's working on the Island he'll get the same recognition in Tas amongst the laggers and metal workers! not that they're probably called that in Oz!

Well, not surprising that they won't commit because until you're actually here, how do they know he'll be available to take the job? People do change their mind about moving interstate/internationally.

I appreciate you're worried but if they told you that Andrew should get work I don't see why they would lie.

Going from two incomes to one is bound to worry you.

It's pointless me saying try not to worry because the whole moving to Oz thingy is stressful but when you get here it's great !
