Default Tamborine QLD & Surrounds rainfall ?

Anyone live out near Tamborine QLD tell me what the rain is like realistically.

Aside the recent rains we've had, anyone know if rainfall is enough over the last couple of years to keep filled tanks without deliveries and so on.

We're thinking of buying some equestrian property but obviously water is a main concern since no town water or bore.

It depends on what happens in the future to be honest. The last few years have been dry and people I know have had to buy in water. Since July last year the weather pattern has changed and most people's tanks have been full to overflowing. I know BOM do a forward thing but I have no confidence in such predictions so don't go there Since I've been here, anytime I've been up the top end, however dry it's been, it has always been green but maybe it's just water retentive ground which is obviously no use for people or animals.

We aren't on the mountain but close-by ...

We have been here 2 years and not had to buy-in (2 adults, 1 sprog, 40,000 litre tank), the previous occupants (2 adults) had been here for 8 years (I think) and had to get 2 loads delivered.

Our tank has been overflowing many times so we could use another big one ... or two ...

Thanks guys. It puts my mind at rest. I know BOM cant predict for toffee but I cant really find any rainfall data for the last couple of years for Tamborine, only Beaudesert as a whole shire, which can be pretty dire water wise.

At least you've not said "what rain ?" so thats good news.

I think the thing about being sub tropical is that although for what seemed like years we didn't have huge long rains, when it did rain it was a good drenching which as long as you have all the catchment right, you can fill up a tank really quickly. We had a 23,000 litre tank put in in August, we hadn't had time to put the valve in the bottom (so if we did run out of tank, our town water would automatically cut in) before it started raining. The tank was overflowing about 36 hours later.

Since Christmas we've probably only had 10 days, possibly, with no rain so everyone on tank water really need extra tanks

Patio first then another big tank then a pool (need the extra tank first, obviously) then a largish games room/extension/granny flat (no Granny yet though ...).

Do you mean Tamborine or Mt Tamborine? Here are the stats for the mountain

http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/averag...w_040197.shtml

It's not just the actual rainfall to think about, it's your roof area and tank(s) size combination as well. More roof = more water collected = less rain to fill tank.
