Does any know if dual band phones will work in Australia?

Yes they do !!!

I work for the Mobile Phone manufacturing divison of Motorola and we have shipped literally 100,000's dual band phones to Australia.

And if anybody has any of the new quadband or 3G phones, yes they work also so you can take them as well (altho the 3G network is still a bit limited in remoter areas)

What about the old fashioned pay as you go? Can I just swap the SIM card?

yes, i did this in 97 and it worked fine.

Hi, we just got to oz, I took my mobile (was on virgin before) and got a new cim card from vodafone, worked fine. My boyfriend had to get his mobile unlocked but it also worked. So definitely take it!
