Does anyone have any info on taking wooden furniture to Australia.
I have heard through the grapevine that you have to have wooden items tested and certified by a specialist?

Does this count for untreated / waxed wood or include varnished or treated wood? Does anyone know what is the criteria?

Wooden furniture is generally fine, unless you bringing in stuff from S America, - places where the wood is liking to contain pests. "Normal" stuff eg the usual sort of UK furniture is fine- just look out for woodworm.

We were advised by pickfords to leave all of our unvarnished pine furniture behind as we couldnt prove where it was from.......

I just varnished my B&Q untreated wood and it was fine, i also took victiran furniture with obvious wood worm holes and it was fine, if you ask AQIS thye will say treat if with only the recomended treatments of a certain brand whihc you cannnot get in the UK so don't bother.

We brought lots of wooden furniture - some varnished some untreated. We declared ALL wooden items in the relevent section of AQIS's forms and it all came through with no problems.

cczmark is an unknown quantity at this point
Cool Re: Taking wooden furniture to Oz

We had no problems at all with any wood items and we fully declared wicker/rattan type furniture which we were advised could be a problem. The things that WERE inspected by customs were...
1. The vacuum cleaner
2. Both bikes
3. Tools
4. Christmas decorations (for pine cones etc)
If you are taking any of 1-3 they need to be spotless.
Cheers,
Mark.

I have the same question but for whicker furniture that was bought from M&S.
It has been varnished but can I take it to OZ.

We worried about taking in our wicker Conservatory furniture but it got through without even going through quarentine.
