As you are in the West Midlands, may I suggest you sell it all to www.htfr.com - they are in Birmingham and buy vinyl dance music.

Other thing you can do is get one of the computer record players. They plug into your computer and you can burn all your favourite vinyls onto disc.
They cost about 100pounds, think Ive seen them on ebay too.

Actually if you have a regular record player, you can buy something called an IMIC from Griffin Technology (normally available on Ebay for about £15) and it converts headphone output to USB input. I converted my entire vinyl and tape collection to WMA format this way.

Re: Taking Vinyl to OZ

The dance scene in Oz is huge - but depends on what type dance music it is. (I'm a DJ myself and am taking my decks and vinyl). Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne all have club scenes, if I remember rightly.

House, Hardstyle, Trance and Techno are all pretty popular, as well as Electro and Tech House. Hard Trance and Hard House is only somewhat popular, but it may be worth taking the records with to sell as not that many people can afford to have records shipped from the UK to Oz.

Although with the recent surge in MP3 sales it may make them a bit harder to sell but we vinyl enthusiasts tend to be quite sentimental about those little bits of plastic.

Seeing as vinyl will no longer be produced after 2009, it's worth hanging onto them for a little bit longer as they will only increase in value.

Although if he's like me I couldn't bear to part with my records!

Off-loaded my collection of 5,000 records prior to moving here. Was no way on earth I was going to lug it all the way over here - I mean seriously, what a ball-ache.

I've stored all mine in my parents loft. No way can I part with it. Don't know why just can't!
