can anybody tell me if we would be able to take my sons cricket bat with us, it was expensive and wants to take it, its a bit grubby but going to take it to shop to get new protective cover etc on it, if we put it in our suitcase do our bags get checked when we arrive in oz ? not sure what happens we we get to Brisbane airport do they just spot check people or do they check new arrivals all their luggage? we are not shipping any items over just taking our suitcases with us, Also hubby taking his golf clubs ( no bag) would these be acceptable just boxed up and would the airline accept these and would they just use up part if our baggage allowance.. lots of quaestions i know be gratefull of any answers from anybody who already been through the move !!!!

Golf clubs - check with your airline; most will carry them but they are usually considered part of your baggage allowance.
Your bags may be checked, if its a wooden cricket bat you should declare it, but the thing to do - with that and the glf clubs - is just make sure they are immaculately clean. Most people seem to have cleaned their golf clubs with Jeyes Fluid. You should get it all into Oz OK, but make sure they are well scrubbed!
