Taking dogs-changed our minds, again!!
Someone has offered to take one of our dogs before we go and I am very tempted by the offer.
When we went to oz in April for 3 weeks we left her in kennels and by the time we got back she had no fur left on her neck and the rest was in bad condition, being in kennels does not suit her (our dog, however was fine and had a ball). She also gets a rash on her belly and under her legs in hot weather (too much yeast production the vet said).
But why do I feel so bad and so guilty? I will miss her very much but I must do what is right for her. The people who want her seem very loving.
If they and we decide to go ahead with this, then I think the sooner the better. That way our dog gets used to not having her around before we go.
What do you think?
Mandy

A hard one Mandy but it does seem as though the best choice for the dog would be to leave her with this new family.
Maybe you feel guilty about it because you don't know the family very well and therefore don't know if they woould look after her like you have?
Could you take her on a visit and see what things are like? - or like someone else on here did - let them take her for walks, then feed her and slowly take over? - that would help you too - no sudden final goodbye - just a gradual handing over.
