To take the car?

We've heard all the info about electrical goods - but what about the car?? Any thoughts?

Has anyone taken a car with them - what were the shipping costs like? Do the cars need lots of checks before they are approved as OK to use in Australia? Could this be too expensive - would it be cheaper to buy a car once in Australia.

Don't bother unless you bought the car before the beginning of 1998.

Taxes on a Mazda MX5 worth £10K including shipping fees (£1K-£2K) worked out between £7k-£8. The depreciation laws changed around 1998 - do a search for cars on this forum and you'll see many similar replies.

It's a pain but probably better to bite the bullet and sell up before you go.

Cheers,

MAX

hello Tracey, if you decide to take your car, one thing you must, be
sure of is,that the car has been totally cleaned, otherwise AQUIS,
[quarantine]will clean it,at your exspense, this can be costly. I work
in the industry in Adelaide sth aust, [GRACE REMOVALS GROUP],as to
cost this varys on the size/type of vehicle,we had a BMW SERIES 5, in
recently from the U,K,the guy realised, that with ship/costs added,he
would have broken even on buying the same, car here,,,most cars
register here [x-uk]with no problems, unless its an unusual model, ie
,antique. regards paul
