Tae Kwon Do in Oz?
Yes, its me again! Getting screen shaped vision today as been on BE too long!
My 9 year old currently does Tae Kwon Do here in UK and loves it. I know there are some TKD clubs in Australia, just wondered if any one does it out there and what do you think of the classes etc.
Its very organised here and very friendly, so I hope its much the same over there as I think he would like to carry on and it will also be a good way of meeting more people too.

Master Rhee comes over from Korea several times a year to participate in the grading. It's very organised over here too; excellent for instilling discipline; excellent socially too.

Where is that club? My son had just graded and acheived his red belt a couple of weeks before we left Canada and he would like to go back to it.

My three boys used to train at Wanneroo High School gymnasium but apparently that is no longer a venue now? They also used to hold sessions outside at a park or even on the beach.

Thanks. You're a star. I tried to send karma but apparently I have to spread it around first.

Thanks Bobcat, we are not heading to WA but good news that its a popular sport in Oz, so we shouldn't have too many problems finding a club. My son is very shy and not at all confident but doing TKD has really helped so I would like him to carry on as it will also be a good way to make friends.
He is just about to do his next grading for his blue tag on Sunday, so am keeping fingers crossed for him

All my three boys did TKD; not only did it keep them out of mischief....... it kept them fit, taught them discipline and how to look after themselves!
It also served as an intro to many new friends their age which was helpful to new arrivals in a strange country with many different cultures.
Unfortunately; as with any other school I guess .......... my boys had to initially put up with loud-mouthed bullies ........... but once word got round they could all handle themselves nicely.............. the bullying stopped. We had to stress they weren't to use their newfound skills unless it was absolutely necessary.
Good luck with your son's grading.
