Tac

I was involved in a road accident and wondered if I was meant to inform TAC or the police about it.

Basically, I was driving along and passing a cyclist (who wasn't wearing a helmet  ), and someone in a parked car opened their driver's door causing the cyclist to swerve into my car. He wasn't hurt (thankfully) and my car wasn't damaged too bad (it's an old bucket anyway), and we all exchanged phone numbers etc.

I was a bit shaky after...it could have been much worse....

There are some parameters for reporting. It varies from State to State. damage>$xx; inuries; fatalities.

Look it up in your Road Rules book

I would report it to the Police regardless. The idiot who opened the door may already have been warned about this sort of stupidity before. Your report may get the cops to do something sbout it. Just last Friday, cycling home, I almost got hit by some moron pulling out of a street. This people need to get more aware of cycists!! A visit by the cops may just do the trick.

Hope you managed to get over the incident. Like you said - it could have been nastier.
