Re: T.I.A............
I have just got out of hospital today , after having a Tia on friday at work, i have had 4 days of very intence "Going over". MRI /CTI scans, ECGS , Ultra sounds , Xrays.....And any thing else i have forgotten.
I have realised ,how fragile life is , and now i have to change my ways no booze for a month ,no driving for a month, i have to put up with a lifetime of Asprin , colestrol blockers, and high blood pressure tablets.
But at least i,m above ground, the prognosis looks good as long as long as i stick to being a model citizen for the rest of my life.............mm

Re: T.I.A............
Good to hear you're ok MM. I think they are just a wake up call (serious one though) to sort yourself out which you're doing so enjoy life and just don't be daft with diet etc. I think model citizen may be pushing it a bit though

Looks like you may catch a few more games yet.
Provided you become a non mover for a while.

Re: T.I.A............
Feeling for you MM, but at least you've had the warning rather than the full blown stroke.
Do what ever it is that you need to do to get well and keep well, boring, but tbh, the next one might not be a warning, you wanna avoid that at all costs, you're a young man (relatively speaking)
I wish you a speedy and complete recovery.

Re: T.I.A............
I had to go on those aged 42. Thing is most people find out they have a problem when they drop down dead (like my pal 3 weeks ago when jogging in Ocean Reef - aged 47) . It might not seem like it now but you are actually lucky to have had a warning. Take the tabs, go to your checkups and live a healthy lifestyle and chances are you'll go on for many years yet. Good luck

Re: T.I.A............
I suppose I've had about five or six episodes: the first some ten years ago when a translucent orange blob seemed to hang in front of my right eye: it slowly disappeared after some five minutes. My neighbour, a diagnostic radiographer - "diagnosed" it as a TIA, but they couldn't find anything wrong.
The other times have been like twinkling black circles of diamonds - both eyes - filling most of the vision and slowly getting smaller until they disappear. From what I've read it's a bit like the "aura" that some migrane sufferers get.
If it's any consolation, I was taken off work for three months fifteen years ago for an electrical heart "problem" - LBBB. After all sorts of tests including wires up through the arteries they let me go back to work, and when I asked the eminent cardiologist what proportion of the population had this he said they have no idea! It was only because I had six monthly medicals that it was picked up: the conclusion that I made and he agreed with was that it might well be half the population had it but no-one ever knew.
I suspect that TIAs might come into the same category, and that many people have them but never recognise or report them.
I still take the aspirin, though!

Re: T.I.A............
Hi glad to hear you are ok. Please heed the warnings, my BIL choose not to & his second stroke at 50 years old has left him with permanent disabilities which prevents him from working again. Fragile indeed.
