Sydney - where to buy free-standing wardrobes?
Before we moved in, our LL agreed (through his agent) that we could install wardrobes at our own expense. Now he has said he'd rather we removed anything on leaving, so sticking in some (e.g., Ikea) fitted ones seems a bit stupid if we have to make good the walls later.
We had to do something similar in Singapore and managed to find some very spacious and inexpensive free-standing wardrobes, cost us about GBP600 for 3 (ten doors in total). They weren't wood but they did a very good impression, and they held a lot more than most I've seen. Any clues as to where I would get some in Sydney would be much appreciated, or even somebody that would make me some. TIA |

TIA There are a number of specialist furniture shops down Military Road toward Mosman (Jimmy Possum etc) that will have some in or make them for you, but will be pricey. Failing that there are a number of 2nd hand furniture places around the city. We have one near us in Lane Cove that seems to sell a whole range of "real" (i.e. not flatpack) furniture that is in good condition and may well suit you down to the ground. Steve |
Re: Sydney - where to buy free-standing wardrobes?
Thanks Steve. I'm convinced I would need about 6 of the Ikea ones just for me. The ones I had in Sg had a rail, an adjustable shelf below it, and a set of shelves to one side. Shame they weren't worth the cost of upgrading to a 40ft container.
(We've currently got 4 Ikea clothes rails and they're groaning, and that's before our seafreight arrives. Between us we have 40 pairs of shoes and I daren't even mention handbags...) I'll take a look anyway, will be going again soon. Also head down Military Road and to Lane Cove at the weekend, perhaps. |
