Sydney vs Melbourne

Hi,

Myself and my husband are deciding to live either in Sydney or Melbourne. At the moment it is a very difficult decision as both places are great - we would love to hear your thoughts.
We moved to Sydney three wks ago (in our 30's) and we are living with my brother which makes life alot easier. During the wkend we headed to Melbourne to check it out. In Melbourne we stayed in Elwood just near St. Kilda. We loved Melbourne for the fact that you can cycle to work (we both wld be working in the CBD), great city in terms of cafe culture and a great feeling about the place. In Elwood they had some lovely cafes where you could pop down for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Is there an area in Sydney with the same type of village feel where close enough to city that you can either walk or cycle (without getting killed!) plus near the beach but does not have to be on the doorstep (don't have that type of money!).
Would love to hear all your thoughts - MELBOURNE VS SYDNEY

Hi

I will sure go for Melbourne. Trasport system of melbourne is well calssic and organised. The person do not have car still can survive with a car.

Secondly ofcourse the weather, it is fantastic. 4 seasons falls at oneday whic is amzing.

Melbourne crime rate is slightely lower than Sydeny as a whole.

Beautiful surbubs / wonderful beaches

Great Ocean / Philip Island etc.......

Melbournians are very friendly

Everything take into account I still prefer Melbourne.

Sorry I'm not degrading Sydeny. All the place having their own good aspects.

all the best

As I sit in Elwood eating a pie from the cafe across the road, I think you should stay in Sydney, I think the city is more suited to you and all the leaves in Elwood will annoy you. You shouldn't choose the cafes in one nice suburb as the primary reason for deciding where to spend your life. Have you thought about Geelong ?
