Re: Sydney Suburbs
Do you actually know how big Sydney is? You are going to have to be much more specific to get any meaningful answers to that question - where will you be working, how much are you prepared to pay? Exactly what do you mean by "Family Friendly"? How much time are you prepared to spend commuting? Etc etc.

Yes - there are currently 667 suburbs in Sydney of varying distance to the city and beaches and with varying house and rental prices. Families live in all of them :-)

Hundreds and hundreds of them. Sydney has a small city centre but the suburbs sprawl for many, many miles. Other than maybe the city centre, they all contain families living happily so you won't narrow the field down that way.
Price. Price is the first way to narrow the field down. Place of work is the second. Connent on those and you might get a sensible answer.

Can anyone offer any insight on the Castle Hill & Cherry brook suburbs in Sydney. Looking to relocate from the UK with my partner and 3 kids.

They are alright, would generally be considered a decent area but not up there on the most desirable areas to live list. A bit bland for my personal liking, but the money for a family home would go a bit further up there as opposed to North shore for example. Would need to get a bus into the city.

Castle Hill is the better of the two. It used to be pretty quiet up there but when NorWest was built it became a bit of a nightmare. Awkward to get to the City and on paper, Mac Park looks easy but can get hemmed in by the gridlock on Beecroft Road (and Pennant Hills Rd, depending where you are coming from).
It's all bit 'McMansion-ville' for me. Standard issue up there is a Subaru and a jet ski. On the other hand, if you're into scamming and cults, there's always Hillsong!
I wouldn't consider it unless work was Mac Park or Chatswood area.

Mac Park is where I'll be working! Can you recommend any suburbs within say 30 mins travel?

Have a look at places along the north shore train line. We're in Thornleigh and it's 15 minutes to MQ. Beecroft has a nice enough village feel. Although the new apartments springing up there might change that. Pennant Hills Road and Beecroft Road are basically car parks and best avoided, if at all possible. ☺

Got a friend who works there. He suggests, in no particular order or preference; The Hills, Epping, Frenchs Forest, Hornsby. Or if you get somewhere close to the M1/M2 or train line Ashfield and Strathfield in the south. He lives south and often does the journey in 20 minutes (not leaving at 5pm though).
No idea about any of them, I don't live there. They're just names to me.
