Default Sydney short term (2 weeks) Whats the cheapest way?

We are looking to rent somewhere for 2 weeks in september from the 1st to the 15th.

Somewhere up to 30 minutes out of Sydney centre while we look for rentals

We dont want to pay holiday rental or hotel sorts of prices but want something more like a caravan park or something similar that we have a bit of our own space.

We are hostelling for 3 days on pitt st and then on the road with a 3week car rental and may do a couple of motels for a day or 3 bt then the rest of the three weeks we d like some roots somewhere for a bit

1 or 2 bed wth cooking facilites
We are a childless couple with no pets and dont smoke

Any deas please no matter how absurd?

Also the pitfalls of such places please in your experience if you have any

Thanks

alan and Clare.

There's a caravan park at the Lane Cove river. Lovely scenery there and a central spot only about 20 mins from the CBD.

Have a look here:

Alternatively, a bit further out near the Northern beaches at Narabeen Lake is another park:
http://www.sydneylakeside.com.au/

Both have cabins.

Most things im looking at are approx £300 for the week. Thats astonishing. That is for the park homes and cabins!

Im looking for more like £200 a week or less. Cheapskate i may be but im not stupid. Over 3 weeks, thats nearly a thousand pound just for accomodation. Thatwould fit our entire house out.

Does anyone know of any hostels outside of Sydney centre that have privates please.

I've stayed at that Lane Cove park iand it was $720 p/w for a small cabin. RIP OFF.

The traffic in and out of the place was a nightmare too.

Try out the holiday rentals on here http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin...l&snf=rbs&a=sf You should be able to get a schmick unit close to the city for $500 p/w. Which is cheap for Sydney.
