Sydney comparison to Auckland - Help
#1

Hi there
We are currently in Auckland and have an opportunity to possibly move to Sydney.
Can anyone with the knowledge of Auckland - in particular the eastern bays of Mission Bay, Kohimarama and St Heliers; throw in some suburb names that maybe comparible in Sydney, ie beach lifestyle, good schools and easy commute back to the CBD?
Thanks in advance

Send a PM to Briwi. They used to live in Auckland, but couldn't stomach the boredom, so now live in Sydney. They will be able to give you the low down.

Sydney - a modern, busy, cosmopolitan 21st century city. The largest city of a prosperous, booming country.
Auckland - Still somewhere in the mid '70s with the infrastructure of a city a third of it's size. The largest city in a failing country.

Hi all, I'm going to bring this thread to the top of the pile again.... can anyone give us some indicators as to the commute time from Manly area back to the CBD, then if we are looking further up northern beaches of Sydney - Curl Curl and Dee Why???
Thank you

We lived 3 yrs in Auckland and have been in Sydney 2 and half. Sydney wins hands down but you need to ensure you have a good income to enjoy the lifestyle. Mission Bay would be the equivalent of Balmoral, Manly, Balgowalsh (sp), Bronte, Cogee. Renting not too expensive but you need serious dosh to buy, much more so than in Auckland.
