The State government is trying to blame Sydney's infrastructure problems on the increasing population supposedly caused by all the immigrants. The state government has very little say over immigration policy and I cannot see how migration can be directed away from Sydney.

Australians have gone mad buying up apartments as investment properties. This is great for renters as you can pick and choose. There is also a debate about whether the market will collapse because of the vacant property rate of inner city apartments.

Yes they did say Investers were the ones buying to rent out again, But the prices they are charging for rent and what you get is a bit much.

Compared to London and the SE UK the rents here are good value.

My fiance in Brisbane pays per MONTH the same as I pay per WEEK in Brighton, UK - and his place is bigger, with garden and garage...and people still ask "are you sure you want to live over there, not over here?"

Australia Direct is a good programme but it's only on every 6 weeks. If you want to see Australian auctions, watch a programme called 'Hot Property' on Discovery Home and Leisure.

The next programme is on Monday morning at 10.30
