If your work was in the Parramatta area, or even Minchinbury, then that would be a close location. |
Re: Sydney Areas
Need to get on the real estate sites to get an idea of areas can afford in the 1 hour travel.
Realistically there is the chance that i may have to find somewhere else once I know where I'll be working. |
Re: Sydney Areas
Using the Circle on the map principle and then looking at areas that fall in it.
I think to fall in my 1 hours travel time to CBD I can go as far north as Hornsby, as far NW as Collaroy (presume would have to catch bus as no train), as far East as Bondi!!, As far south as Cronulla, as far SW as Liverpool (the name sends shivers down my spine, though surely can't be as bad as our version - married to a scouser! ), as far West as Penrith. From what people have said there don't seem to be many noticeable areas to avoid in that area. Though presume I'd be better staying along the coastal areas as a starting point (if too expensive for rentals then start moving inland!!) |

That would be one hell of a commute  do you perhaps mean as far west as Penrith ? Jim |

We have just bought a 3 bedroom house in St Clair (nr St Mary's) on 919sq metre block - big enough for a pool - & it's perfectly quiet & not rough at all. There are some suburbs pretty close that I wouldn't go to without my baseball bat :scared: but when you drive around them you get the idea of what they're like by how they look! It takes 1 hour from St Mary's to Central station, but they have the fast trains which can get you there quicker I believe. Stace |

We have a 2 bed house with huge back garden in a nice area of northern beaches. Commute to the city is about 1h15m. |

Re: Sydney Areas
You can get a 2 bedder in the inner west - Newtown , enmore, stanmore etc for less then 400. Maricville is even cheaper.
15 mins commute (who can tell I dont like getting out of bed in the morning!? ;) ) Obviously the further west you go the cheaper it gets though. |

Yes it's more expensive as you get closer, that's life. I live near the beach in a great suburb in a top city and am only 1h15m from the cbd. It's bloody tough - I need a medal. |
