Swimming pool Maintenance?
Hi Guys, We are looking at rentals at the moment and some of the ones we like have swimming pools, Just wondering are they alot of hassle/expense to maintain? Or would you be better to hire someone?
Never had a pool so totally clueless here,, Thanks |
Re: Swimming pool Maintenance?
Some rental agreements come with the pool maintenance included in the rent, if not your local pool shop should be able to sort out a good one for you, and give you the info you require on how to do the water checks etc:)

Re: Swimming pool Maintenance?
General rule of thumb, spend 5 minutes each day skimming it and half an hour on the weekend and it should be OK. Ignore it for a few weeks and expect to spend many more weeks getting it back in good health again.
Ours is 12m x 5m concrete pool with an Aquabrite Ioniser system, but it gets a hit of cholrine about once a month too. It's always sparkling and clean, even though it's surrounded by gum trees. Costs about $10 a week on average to keep it in good condition. Get a water test kit and stay away from pool shop testing, as they will sell you stuff you don't really need based on their 'diagnosis' of your water sample. It's easy to DIY and keeps costs down. |

Re: Swimming pool Maintenance?
Every rental we have had has included monthly pool maintenance.
We get charged $30 a month for chemicals. All we do is skim the leaves and empty the catch box. So nice to be able to cool down and go skinny dipping late at night. |

Re: Swimming pool Maintenance?
We just maintain our pool ourselves.
Never had any trouble and just to check we take a water sample to the pool shop about every 6 weeks for testing. |
