Default Swiming Pools

We love the thought of having our own pool in the garden - nothing too grand - maybe 16' x 12'?

If the property we buy doesn't have a pool has anyone a rough idea of the cost of getting one installed?

Hi,
We've been looking at the price of pools aswell. Hopefully these 2 websites may help you.

www.thisplace.com.au (Click on Site Search and put in the words "Swimming Pools" and scroll down the page a bit for some prices)

Also try www.compasspools.com.au
There's no prices on here but lots of other info and you can always contact them.

Julie

P.S. Look on www.yellowpages.com.au for pool manufacturers.

There was a thread on this ages ago - i am almost sure but it worked out something like for a 10m pool something like $25000 although i could be wrong. I do seem to recall that that included landscaping, fencing and filters etc, etc..

No doubt someone will swoop down and correct me if i am wrong !

Hi
We had one installed last year and it cost $25,000. Its a 8.5m x 4.5m saltwater concrete pool but that didn't include any landscaping or fencing. Every time we get in it in the summer hubby says its the best 25 grand we've spent. I think fibreglass pools are a little bit cheaper but not sure.

Shop around with quotes and like anything they will try and match competitors. Hope this gives you some idea anyway.

We have a Compass Pool, bought through Poolworld here in Brisbane, cant recommend them enough. 12m x 4m , cost around $30K, not including landscaping & fencing (the fencing alone cost over $6K).

I'm told that houses with pools are often less 'saleable' than those without, as many people don't want the hassle of upkeep, risks with young children etc.

So if you invest in a pool it may not increase the value of the house. Similarly if a house has a pool, don't pay too much extra on the price without considering this issue and talking to others.

If you must invest in a pool, consider the following:
- a pool that takes up the entire back garden is not a good idea,
- the pool should look nice (not all pools do)
- ideally it should catch the sun for most of the day (a shaded pool is not such a good idea)
- a pool heating system is worth considering.

A badly designed pool is worse than none at all.
