Would have loved to have come, unfortunately a few months too late, left Worthing for Melbourne in November.
Hope you all have a good evening
What's it like in sunny Sussex at the mo? Has the snow gone yet, last I heard it was fairly well covered.
Hope you all have a good evening

By the way when you go for your medical I'd recommend Dr Gilhooly (I think that was his name) just opposite the Pavillion, he's a great guy, looks like John Lithgow off 'Third Rock From the Sun', spent more time talking about Oz than examining me lol.
Glad to hear no snow in Brighton, I know what it's like in winter down on the coast

Bet you can't wait to get out here, Brissie should be great I have some friends up there who absolutely love it.
I'm having a great time, I worked here for a year in 97 (Adelaide) so knew pretty much what to expect. Having a bit of an episode getting my trade qualifications sorted out so still looking for work but other than that have got the Holden Commodore, a nice big barbie and life is good.
I saw from your earlier post you're off to the Sandown exhibition, it's definitely worthwhile going even though it gets very busy. If there is any info you want then drop me a message, I didn't use an agent, did the whole lot myself and did shed loads of research before I moved so if there's anything you need to know give me a shout, always glad to help.
Have a good evening discussing the future and good luck with the application.

Hi,
We used Dr Gilhooly as well. He was pretty straightforward with the meds and surgery turned around all the details pretty quick. Wouldn't recommend him as your local GP :scared: - Long story.
Whereabouts in Melbourne are you? We are heading there next month for a reccie trip before moving on to check out Brisbane. We are staying in Patterson Lakes and looking at suburbs round that area and closer to the CBD.
Cheers
Mark

I'm in Glen Waverley, About 20km from the CBD if you follow the Monash freeway. It's a nice area if you don't mind not being by the sea. Close to the freeway for city access (bout 20 mins to CBD out of peak hour and 35-45 in peak time), two shopping centres within a few minutes drive and the station is a 5 min drive or 15 minute walk away. Big leisure centre/Swimming pool close by, multiplex cinema etc.
I was advised in this area to avoid Clayton, Springvale and Noble Park areas, Mt Waverley, Glen Waverley, Box Hill are all decent areas and as I understand Chadstone is good too. All fairly central with good access to the city. If you have kids Glen Waverley has some very sought after schools and houses for rent/sale in the school zone go for a premium.
As a guide I'm renting a 3 bed unit (would pass for a decent sized house in UK) 2 years old, open plan living area, 2 bathrooms, garage, laundry, and small but private garden for $300 pw. To buy a 3-4 bed house in this area you're looking at starting price of $450000 for somewhere decent in a nice street.
At the moment I'm still looking for work so If I'm still off when you're out here if you want to meet up and have a trundle round some of the areas round here more than happy to give you a bit of a guided tour.

Cheers for the offer,
May take you up on that. We are in Melbourne for about 5 days before flying off to Brisbane. We have spent a bit of time there before out in Mount Martha for a few weeks and down in St Kilda, in our backpacking days. The aim is to check out the are around Patterson Lakes and a little bit closer in. We are also planning to have a look around The Glen Waverley area as well. Might also have a look at Williamstown.
Only a quick stop in Melbourne as we want to check out Brisbane areas where we know less about the City and surrounds.
Cheers
Mark
