I’d be grateful if anyone could offer advice on suitable places to live in Victoria. We are visiting for 3 weeks in November on our validation trip and hope to identify a few contenders for places to settle.

We have 3 boys – 4, 11, 17, so will be looking for an area with good schools but I don’t think we’ll be able to send them private.

We currently live 10 minutes walk from the beach here in Cornwall and will be looking for a similar situation in Victoria. Most important for us are …

Surfing & bodyboarding (Nothing too hardcore – 4 foot beach break is fine for me and no harsh paddle outs as I’m over 40! , my 17 year old is a bit more adventurous though).
I also like to paraglide (again in a fairly mild fashion).
Horseriding (wife & 11 year old)
Snorkelling (all) & Diving (just me at the moment).
Nice atmosphere, bit of peace & quiet.

We would prefer a small community or town to a suburb (as long as it’s not the type of place where everyone stops talking and stares at you when you enter the pub).

Somewhere where I can get to a job as an Electronics Engineer in an hour would be good too! But I’d rather have long commute than compromise on where we live.

We’ll need a 4 bedroom house for about A$550k

I guess it’s a tall order but someone out there may have already found what we’re looking for – if so we promise to be good neighbours.
