Default Surf warning - South East Queensland

King tides are dangerous, so if you are on the beaches, be careful

After the last time - strong wind warning but people still ignoring the flags, so many people pulled out of the surf, putting their rescuers in danger, I figured it was worth posting Most people that are cuaght out are tourists, as opposed to locals, unaware of the dangers.

I'm ultra cautious when it comes to the sea. When we were travelling we found some beautiful quiet spots but I won't go in the water in less there's some dudes in red and yellow budgie smugglers nearby - between a couple of flags to be precise

My boss does a lot of work with Surf Lifesaving Queensland on the Gold Coast, and the helicopter they operate, so he gets all the reports and minutes of meetings by email. Its quite frightening to read the statistics about people rescued - and those not so lucky, especially when you think of all the precautions that SLSQ and other bodies take. Despite all the warning, the figures still rise.
