Surf Beaches in South East Queensland
The Courier Mail has a page updated daily on the conditions of SEQld's Surf Beaches.

This is an example of the report for 12/10/04
Stradbroke Island
Cylinder Beach is probably the pick of the beaches at the moment and has been looking very nice. Main Beach has had some good open beach breaks but swimmers should take extra care on the outgoing tide.
Noosa
Noosa has a small wave on the points around 0.3m. Water is looking good for swimming; take care when entering the bathing area, small pot holes are present from the tides. Flash rips present so obey the beach report sign between the flags.
Sunshine - Peregian
Slight winds around 10 knots will blow along this stretch making it pleasant to read the paper. The swell is small but rips are present with good swimming bank in the flagged areas; this is making it easy to hold your position in the red and yellow flagged area. Stay in a depth suited to your swimming capabilities.
Maroochydore – Alexandra Headland
Stable conditions with only a few rips along this stretch. Great conditions for a swim, just be a little careful as rocks are exposed. Enter the water only in the flagged area and watch your footing.
Mooloolaba
Sitting on the beach will give you protection from the wind, water temperature around 21 degrees. Small shore dumping waves are still present which require care on entering and exiting the water. Small rips around so stay only in the flagged area. Great beach for the family.
Caloundra
Dicky and Kings Beaches are going to have similar conditions: small swell under 0.5m with slight wind chop in the afternoon, pleasant conditions for swimming. The waves won’t pose a threat to swimmers but the rips will, so stay in the flagged area. Follow the direction from the lifeguards on the day.
Bribie Island
Expect wind changes, E/SE in the morning swinging to NE in the afternoon. Conditions in the water will remain the same just different wind directions, small choppy swell with a slight sweep. Some bluebottles may be present in the afternoon. Check with the Lifeguard for the latest beach report.
Southport, Surfers Paradise
These beaches will be providing fairly good swimming conditions, especially in the mornings, but there are still plenty of rips along the open beaches, so please remember to swim only between the red and yellow flags.
Broadbeach, Kurrawa, Mermaid Beach
Broadbeach to Mermaid Beach will have similar conditions and swimmers should take care with a number of small rips around. There are signs of an increasing swell. Please swim only in patrolled areas.
North Burleigh, Burleigh Heads
The North Burleigh to Burleigh Heads stretch will once again offer some great swimming for the family. The swell has been small but should improve during the week. Swimmers should stay between the red and yellow flags.
Tallebudgera, Palm Beach, Currumbin, Tugun
This stretch of beaches has had some fairly good swimming conditions. Swimmers should take care, especially on the outgoing tide. Currumbin Alley should improve later in the week with some nice little waves. Don’t forget to swim only between the red and yellow flags.
Kirra, Coolangatta, Greenmount, Rainbow Bay
The southern end of the Gold Coast is looking great and has produced some beautiful swimming conditions. The southern points have had a small wave for the board riders. Take care and swim between the flags.
