Hi HP

Yes I am going to give some feedback but I am still having trouble staying awake

I am also a bit afraid to as it was not all positive by far and I have noticed how anyone who says anything 'negative' about Australia has been attacked on here recently

Still I will publish and no doubt be damned

Best wishes

I am seriously thinking of camping in Tassie, it is beautiful, if we drove to Melb any idea of how much the ferry is across the Tasman and how long it takes??

The crossing is overnight, from memory, I think the car is cheap, its the people that cost the money :scared: . Cant remember exactly but have a feeling it was about $100 PP for a seat? Plus about $30 for the car.

Someone else may know more precisely.

The link below should answer your questions.

www.spiritoftasmania.com.au/index.htm

if you decide to go to Tasmania don't miss Freycinet national park and Wineglass bay, in the worlds top ten beaches.

it's far cheaper to take ferry and car than flights for a whole family +car hire on the other side

website is http://www.spiritoftasmania.com.au/

it is about a 12 hr trip - there are two sailings a day (in each direction)

It cost us $400 for a car for a week, I didnt think that was too bad! Depends if you can get cheap flights or not, we got $60 return, so that helped .

That was from Brisbane, if you drove to Melb & then flew over it would be cheaper than Bris-Hobart which is what we did.

Was that the jetstar $29 dollar sale when they first took off? We tried for seats but couldnt even log on! the site was jammed solid it was even on the news, you lucky thing.

Taking the car will work, it may be a 20 hour drive but we can load up with camping gear and that will save a fortune on accom too. Its sounding good so far.

they're going in Dec...i.e wet season in top of NT, too hot and humid for many, and a lot of places will be inaccessible due to the wet.

I agree tho, Top End has some of the most beautiful and stunning scenery and wildlife that I have seen anywhere in the world.

Virgin Blue are going to start flights to Vanuatu and Fiji in September and now fly to NZ. Australian (Qantas holiday airline) airlines fly to Sabah Malaysia (Borneo) and there are some good deals there.

Tassie is beautiful, highly recommend it, coles bay in particular is a lovely place and wineglass aswell. Spent 6 months down there last year and it is a hidden gem.
